James E. Bright

Winslow Professor of Journalism, Indiana University School of Journalism

Before joining IU, Mr. Bright worked at the Ford Motor Company for 24 years, retiring as the executive director of the Chief of Staff Office. He launched Ford’s Volunteer Corps, which made it more convenient for the company’s employees and retirees to serve their communities as volunteers. He also spearheaded Ford’s response to Hurricane Katrina survivors in Louisiana and Mississippi in 2005 and led the company’s efforts to mobilize employees, retirees, and other resources to respond to the needs of tsunami survivors in Southeast Asia in December 2004.

Mr. Bright received a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Indiana University in 1974 and has done graduate course work at Ohio University, the University of Detroit, the University of Dallas, and the University of Texas at Dallas.
