The Fund Raising School promotes the highest standards in professional fundraising and the body of knowledge informing the philanthropic tradition. That is why we offer a Certificate in Fund Raising Management through the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University. This certificate recognizes and rewards a commitment to fundraising leadership through successful completion of four key courses offered by the School:
- Principles & Techniques of Fundraising
- Planned Giving: Getting the Proper Start
- Developing Major Gifts
- Interpersonal Communication for Fundraising
"Principles & Techniques of Fundraising" is the foundation of the curriculum for all the other courses and should be taken first to establish the context and vocabulary for the rest of the courses. If participants choose to take other courses first, they must understand that there will be an inevitable recurrence of terms and concepts which flow from the foundation course. Because "Principles & Techniques of Fundraising" is the course establishing the philosophy and context for the other courses, no waiver from the course is given.
The certificate recognizes completion of a curriculum of knowledge-based courses. It is not a recognition of fundraising experience. The certificate is not equivalent to the designation Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), a credential offered by CFRE International.
