The Fund Raising School, an international leader in fundraising training and professional development, and the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University, a nationally ranked leader in nonprofit management education, are pleased to announce this brand new course offering. It is one of four required courses for the new Certificate in Nonprofit Executive Leadership.

Course Description

Program evaluation is one mechanism for establishing accountability in nonprofit organizations. This course focuses on the techniques and application of evaluation methods to assess the effectiveness of nonprofit programs. Participants will learn evaluation techniques currently used to determine whether nonprofit programs are having the intended effects. Participants will also learn how to develop and implement cutting-edge performance measurement strategies in nonprofit organizations. Topics include:

  • Program evaluation and accountability
  • Practical program evaluation techniques
  • Performance management strategies for effective and efficient programming

Facilitator: Maureen Pirog, Ph.D. is the Rudy Professor of Public & Environmental Affairs at Indiana University. She is the founder and co-director of the IU Institute for Family and Social Responsibility, which provides research expertise and technical assistance to state and national social service organizations. Maureen’s teaching and research focuses on the evaluation of social welfare policies and programs including welfare reform, child support, educational interventions, and employment among low income populations. Her work has been frequently cited by state and congressional committees, and she has collaborated on evaluation projects at Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School, The Brookings Institution, the Ford Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.

Full participation in Program Evaluation for Mission Impact is applicable for 13.0 points in Category 1.B - Education of the CFRE International application for initial certification and/or recertification.
