This online course is designed for participants who want to learn how to write a winning grant proposal or refresh their proposal writing skills.
While participants can work on given assignments at any time, day or night, there will be specific deadlines for completion. Plan about two hours for online work and responding to the work of other participants and another two hours each week to complete assignments to be posted for review.
A member of The Fund Raising School faculty will serve as online instructor, monitoring group work and the public forums and offering individualized email feedback if requested.
Participants must be proficient in word processing and web browsing and must have an Internet connection.
You'll learn how to:
- Understand the basic principles of fundraising that are vital for requesting funds by means of proposal writing
- Learn how to make the right match between the request and the funder
- Learn how to develop and formulate an idea into an organized project and proposal based on the universal components of a strong project and proposal
- Understand and respond to the proposal review process
- Consider the ethical and administrative issues of proposal preparation and grant administration
- Understand the grantmakers’ perspective on receiving a proposal and making a funding decision
- Learn to review proposals and proposal sections and understand the importance of multiple factors that influence success, especially when faced with reviewing numerous proposals and proposal sections.
As part of this course you will:
- Receive full 4 weeks of online instruction
- Become part of online peer network on proposal development
- Receive a downloadable TFRS binder on grantsmanship
- Give and receive feedback on proposal development
