INDIANAPOLIS - Local fundraising consultant David L. Sternberg will join the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University on July 1, 2004, as its new associate director of public service and strategic initiatives.
Sternberg is currently partner of Loring, Sternberg and Associates, an Indianapolis-based fundraising and management consulting firm he founded in 1996 with Chuck Loring, CFRE. In that role, he has provided fundraising counsel to educational foundations, higher education, social service and healthcare organizations, membership organizations, children's groups, and museums. He is taking a leave of absence from the firm.
Sternberg already serves as a member of the faculty at The Fund Raising School at the Center, where he teaches courses such as Building the Annual Fund, Marketing for Fundraising, and Fundraising for Small Nonprofits. He also serves on the Center's Research Review Committee.
Prior to co-founding his consulting firm, Sternberg worked for the Phi Kappa Theta National Foundation and at Butler University, where he supervised the university's direct mail program and personally solicited major annual donors. He also served as the Acting Director of Development for Prevent Child Abuse Indiana.
An alumnus of The Ohio State University, Sternberg is active in many organizations, most notably the Association of Fundraising Professionals Indiana Chapter. He has served in various leadership capacities, including stints as chapter president, vice president of programs and chair of Indiana Fund Raising Day. He also is vice president for development for Washington Township Schools Foundation and is active in the township's youth football and baseball programs.
