Abstracts

  • Joint Affinity Groups: The Meaning and Impact of Board and Staff Diversity in the Philanthropic Field - The research project examined how racial, ethnic, gender, sexual orientation, and disability are represented among foundation staff and trustees; the differences in tenure and earning patterns among foundation staff and trustees and the level of foundation funding to populations of interest to each of the co-sponsoring groups; and the impact of foundation board and staff diversity on grantmaking priorities.
  • Short Changed: Foundation Giving and Communities of Color - An assessment of the numbers presents an unpromising picture: although people of color make up nearly one-third of the general U.S. population, grants explicitly targeted to benefit them constituted only seven percent of foundation giving in 2001. (Specific references to Native American, Hispanic, African-American, and Asian-American data are presented.)

Learning To Give

  • Learning to Give - The Learning to Give binders are an exciting education series with character-building lesson plans for grades 6-8. We are proud to present this series to you.

Did You Know?

  • You May Not Know This - There are 61 Native American foundations which have been identified including a great variety – tribal, national, regional, inter-tribal, public and private foundations, donor advised funds of community foundations, corporate foundations, and community chests or federated funds.
