Lake Distinguished Visitor

The Distinguished Visitor’s Program serves two purposes. First, it provides us with the opportunity to bring to the IUPUI campus and the city of Indianapolis scholars who have done reputable work in the field of religion and philanthropy. The Lake Distinguished Visitor may spend from one day to one month on campus, leading seminars, giving lectures and engaging university faculty from the various university disciplines in conversation on issues related to religion and philanthropy. Second, it provides us with an opportunity to bring to our city visionary philanthropic practitioners to share their stories with community leaders and local philanthropists.

Faith & Fundraising

In congregations and faith-based organizations, money is often a taboo subject. Yet fundraising is a vital part of securing the resources needed to sustain the work of faith in this world—and giving is an important means by which believers can express their faith. Developed in partnership between the Lake Institute on Faith & Giving and The Fund Raising School, this course examines:
  • The opportunities and challenges facing religious and faith-based organizations today.
  • The interplay between religion and generosity.
  • The role of pastoral leadership, theological integrity, and organizational transparency in the creation of a culture of generosity.
