Is the Lake Institute connected with a particular religion or
denomination?
No. As a public service arm of the Center
on Philanthropy and Indiana University, we are not aligned with any one
group. Rather, we welcome all faith communities. Our mission is to be a
safe haven for all people.
Does
the Lake Institute teach fundraising techniques?
Not primarily. While we do work with
issues related to faith communities and non-profits in need of funds, we
tend to focus on the larger issues that might be at stake. When it comes
to teaching the techniques of fundraising, we refer people to
The Fundraising School,
another program within the Center on Philanthropy.
Is
the Lake Institute for practitioners (pastors, lay leaders) or for
academicians (professors, researchers)?
Both. The Lake Institute offers programs
for both audiences. For pastors and lay leaders, we offer the annual
Distinguished Visitor program, Conversations with Clergy, and our
Seminars. For more academically minded folks, we offer the annual Lake
Lecture, the work of our Lake Scholar, and ongoing research in the area of
faith and giving.
How is the Lake Institute related to the Center on Philanthropy?
The Lake Institute is a program of the Center on
Philanthropy.
