The Center on Philanthropy offers fellowships, assistantships, and scholarships to students of philanthropy.

Scholars and Fellowships

The University Fellowship is awarded to a limited number of IUPUI graduate students. These highly competitive awards currently carry a stipend of $11,000 for Masters students and $21,000 for Ph.D. students as well as the waiver of most fees for students, and are for the fall-spring academic year. The M.A. and Ph.D. Program Admissions Committee nominates qualified students for the University Fellowship.

The Hearst Minority Fellowship allows two minority students each year to come to Indianapolis to study philanthropy through the Master of Arts in Philanthropic Studies degree program.

The Mott Foundation Minority Fellowship is designed to engage more minorities in the study of philanthropy through one of the graduate degree programs. It covers tuition and a stipend for a regular graduate assistantship.

CCS established the five-year annual William B. Hanrahan Fellowship at the Center on Philanthropy in recognition of William B. Hanrahan’s contributions to the field and CCS’s commitment to shaping future leadership within the fund - raising profession. The fellowship will begin during the 2007-2008 academic year and will be awarded to an outstanding student pursing a master’s or doctoral degree in Philanthropic Studies at the Center. The Fellow’s work will facilitate and enhance on-going research at the Center, bringing together research and practice to help increase the knowledge and tools that strengthen the tradition and practice of philanthropy. The Center is proud to be closely associated with CCS.

Graduate Assistantships

Graduate Assistantships are awarded on a competitive basis to incoming students. Awardees receive tuition remission and a stipend with a work requirement.

Scholarships

The Center on Philanthropy offers several full-tuition scholarships to incoming students each year who are pursuing the M.A. in Philanthropic Studies.

Alumni Association Scholarship 2007 - 2008

The Center on Philanthropy's Alumni Association Scholarship was established to help students complete their Master of Arts in Philanthropic Studies or Master of Public Affairs in Nonprofit Management. Applicants must be a current student at IUPUI or Indiana University-Bloomington, pursuing an MA in Philanthropic Studies or an MPA with a concentration in nonprofit management.

The scholarship recipient will be chosen using the following criteria:

• Essay
• Academic, volunteer and/or professional achievement
• Financial Need
