Alumni Class Notes Spring 2006

Michelle Boone, MPA 1998
Michelle is a Program Officer with The Joyce Foundation in Chicago, IL.

Maggie Tittle Bowden, MA/MPA 2003
After graduating, Maggie became the Director of Development for the College of Consumer and Family Sciences at Purdue University located in West Lafayette, IN.  In February 2005, Maggie returned to the Center on Philanthropy as the Manager of Constituency Relations in the development department. Maggie will become Associate Director of Development for the Center beginning June 1, 2006. She and her husband, Clay, reside in Indianapolis.

Aliya Chaplin, MA 2002
After leaving Wisconsin in April 2004, Aliya (Khan) Chaplin headed out West, spending a summer as the Recreation Director for the Grand Teton Lodge Company, a Rock Resort, in the beautiful Grand Teton National Park. Since October 2004, she and her husband Jason have lived in Vail, Colorado where Aliya is currently a supervisor at the Resort Information & Activities Center for Vail Resorts.  Living in Colorado has made the Chaplins both avid skiers during the winter and campers during the summer.  Aliya and Jason are expecting their first child this April. Aliya continues to volunteer for philanthropic causes in the Vail Valley.

Jason, Monica, Olivia (4) and Jacob (1) will be living in Hendersonville, TN, just northeast of Nashville.

Michelle Staggs Doninger, MPA 1994
Michelle and her husband, Eric, celebrated the birth of their third child, Charlotte Mae Staggs Doninger, on October 23, 2005. They have two additional children, Lilly Margaret, born on May 9, 2002, and Grayson, born on May 12, 2004.

Tonja L. Eagan, MPA 1994
In 2006, Tonja, executive director of Girls, Inc. Indianapolis, was named to the Indianapolis Business Journal’s Top Forty under 40 Hall of Fame.  IBJ recognizes 40 local business and professional leaders who have achieved success before the age of 40. These people have demonstrated leadership, initiative, and dedication in pursuing their careers and are likely to continue to achieve in the future.  Congratulations, Tonja!

Derrick Feldmann, MA 2005, and Elizabeth Whitacre Feldmann, MA 2005
Derrick and Bis were married in December of 2005 in Indianapolis, IN. Derrick is the Manager of External Relations for The League powered by Learning to Give and Bis is the Director of Development for Indiana Dollars for Scholars.

Heidi Frederick (formerly Heidi Baker), MA/MPA 2004
Heidi is a Research Development Specialist in the research department of the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University. She manages all proposal development and contract negotiations for the department in addition to overseeing various research projects. She is currently project manager on research studies looking at US giving for disaster relief and recovery efforts and the effect of foundations’ administrative expense funding policies on nonprofit organizations. She also holds a temporary appointment as an associate faculty member teaching proposal writing in the School of Public and Administrative Affairs with Melissa Brown.

Kristine Haskett, MA 2003
Kristine recently relocated from New Orleans to San Jose, CA, and is the Director of Development for the San Jose Jazz Society.

Tanya Johnson, MA/MPA 2005

In March of 2006, Tanya accepted a position as the Youth Division Grants Manager at the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute in Indianapolis, IN.

Tracy Bongard Ketchem, MPA 1995
Last summer, Tracy and her family relocated to the Twin Cities so that they could raise their boys near family. William will be four this August and Alexander was born on January 3, 2006. She is currently serving as a consultant for The Cleveland Clinic Foundation--her former employer in Cleveland. Tracy recently joined the faculty of The Fund Raising School.

Brad E. Kruse, MA/MPA 1999
Brad is a Program Director for the Hugh J. Andersen Foundation located in Bay Port, MN.

Maureen E. Moran, MPA 1999
Maureen is the Operations Manager for the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center Foundation.  In her current position, Maureen is responsible for all systems/process at the Foundation which raises approximately $10 million annually.

Kemi Ogidan, MA 2004
Kemi is the Director of Major Gifts at Miss Porter's School located in Farmington, CT

Donna Oklak, MA 2004
Donna is co-founder of a new women's giving circle called Impact 100 Greater Indianapolis. She is managing the group's grant selection process. Impact 100 will award one grant of $152,000 to a local nonprofit in June 2006.

Andrea Pactor, MA ’03
Andrea is the Program Manager for Philanthropic Services at The Center on Philanthropy. Prior to joining the Center staff, she worked as the first Director of Development for the Jewish Community Center in Indianapolis. Andrea also coordinates a peer group of small-shop development professionals in Indianapolis and is on the AFP Indiana chapter board.

Linh Preston, MA/MPA 2002
In July of 2005, Linh Preston left her position at the United Way of Central Indiana to stay home and celebrate the birth of her daughter, Hannah Christine.

Brieanna Quinn, MA 2004
Brieanna is the Associate Director of the Well House Society for the Indiana University Foundation in Bloomington, IN

Libby Rau, MA 2005
Libby works for the National Youth Leadership Council Minneapolis, MN.  She is implementing a new service learning program in the Gulf Region to address the needs post Hurricane Katrina--ideally the framework will be used for any emergency relief when needed.

Eric Richards, MA 2005
In December of 2005, he was hired as Director of Development (Class Gifts) at Purdue University. His major responsibilities include managing and directing 25- and 50-year anniversary campaigns that range between $100,000 and $500,000 dollars. Purdue currently has 7 different 25- and 50-year anniversary campaigns running simultaneously.  Since 2003, he has worked in development as Director of Development for the Lambda Chi Alpha Educational Foundation and Director of Development for Training, Inc.

Nicole A. Streeter, MA 2002
Nicole is the Project Director for the World Health Organization Collaborating Center for Supportive Cancer Care in the Department of Symptom Research at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. She provides administrative leadership for the organization, solicits corporate and individual contributions, organizes/manages eight Symptom Research lectures and conferences, and initiates international research collaborations for the Department of Symptom Research.

Amy Vaughan, MA 2002
Amy was named to the Indianapolis Business Journal’s Top Forty under 40 Hall of Fame in 2006.  This award is given to local individuals who have demonstrated leadership, initiative, and dedication in pursuing their careers and are likely to continue to achieve in the future.  Amy is the current director of the Indiana Office of Tourism Development.
