We are excited to announce an anonymous, one-to-one match of up to $500,000 to create a $1 million endowed fund: The Fund Raising School Excellence Fund.

The Fund Raising School Excellence Fund at the Center on Philanthropy will help nonprofit organizations understand effective ways to tap the wellsprings of giving and volunteering in order to fulfill their missions. TFRS’s future will be enhanced by strengthening faculty recruitment and training, by translating research into the “best practices” taught in existing, new, and contract courses, by making training accessible to more practitioners in new ways, and by helping the public better understand the context and solutions for the issues that arise in fundraising.

The Fund Raising School Excellence Fund may support the following opportunities:

Faculty Recruitment and Development

• Recruiting the next generation of faculty is one of TFRS’s highest priorities. The fund will help TFRS focus recruitment on new faculty candidates with a special emphasis on diversity of gender and ethnicity.
• TFRS fosters an ongoing dialogue between scholars and practitioners that strengthens and improves both academic understanding and professional practice. The Fund Raising School Excellence Fund will allow TFRS to seek faculty members with academic background in Philanthropic Studies and those with experience working with emerging fundraising methods like social networking and innovative technology.
• The fund will strengthen TFRS’s faculty training program by supporting specialized trainings for both new and experienced faculty and for each course’s focus area.

Program Content Enhancement and Development

• The Center increases the understanding of philanthropy and improves its practice worldwide. Research is at the core of this mission. The Center’s research informs the training offered by TFRS and, in turn, the fundraising and management lessons offered to nonprofits globally. The Fund Raising School Excellence Fund will allow the Center to integrate new research findings into TFRS materials, develop new course curricula, and update existing content based on latest findings and research-based best practices.
• In addition, TFRS can expand opportunities to expedite the translation of new research and/or identify ways to out-source course development and updates that are based on new research.
