Unlike other institutions, the Center examines the
full scope of philanthropy. Rather than focusing on nonprofit management
alone, it takes a multidisciplinary, liberal arts approach, looking
as much at philosophy as at practices. Not just how philanthropy works,
but why it works, approached from every conceivable angle.
The Center
teaches philanthropy. With outstanding faculty members drawn from
more than 20 academic disciplines at Indiana University Bloomington
and IUPUI,
the Center offers master’s degrees that are among the best in
the field—and the first traditionally-structured PhD program
in Philanthropic Studies in the nation. Students come from around the
globe to study philanthropy quantitatively, qualitatively, and as a
uniquely human phenomenon. The Center is truly preparing the next generation
of scholars and nonprofit executives.
"Few things are more
exciting than helping to match a mission-driven project with a
donor’s
best intentions. To ensure the health of the nonprofit sector,
ethical and effective fundraising is of paramount importance. As
a fundraising professional, I use principles taught at The Fund
Raising School every day."
