Assistant Director of Third Millennium

Manage the daily operations of the Third Millennium office. Responsible for expanding the scope and range of the Third Millennium Initiative by focusing on outcome-based strategic initiatives. Build relationships through presentations to various groups, monitor the budget, and supervise the support staff.

Task Description% of time spent per year
Provide management and oversite to Millennium staff to improve efficiency and to ensure tasks for the project are completed correctly and on schedule. Supervise the Program Coordinator to ensure tasks are completed correctly in a timely fashion. 20%
Lead effort, in collaboration with the director, to develop partnerships with nonprofit organizations dedicated to supporting Millennium’s goals and objectives. 20%
Foster relationships with internal and external organizations with similar missions including recruiting minority students to the Center on Philanthropy's academic programs and increasing fundraising capacity. 20%
Develop training, assist in the development of research projects, and implement programs to identify and equip future leaders among people of color, women, and youth. Conduct presentations at conferences, symposia, workshops, The Fund Raising School training programs, etc. Determine what kind of products, services and programs Millennium can deliver, as well as appropriate timelines and pricing. Determine the content and design for Third Millennium content on the Center’s web site. 15%
Provide technical assistance (such as fundraising consulting) to nonprofit organizations that seek to benefit from Millennium's experience and expertise. 15%
Monitor the project budget, prepare financial reports and analyze activity. Work with vendors to negotiate contract terms and ensure compliance with university policies and procedures. 10%

Minimum Education and Experience required
Bachelor's degree and at least two years related experience are required. A combination of experience and education are 2:1 ration with a Project Management certification may be considered.

Knowledge/skills/abilities required
Excellent oral and written interpersonal communication skills, basic computer skills, managerial experience, project management, marketing, public relations, promotion, constituency building, time management, task prioritization, travel, customer relations, and event planning. Strong familiarity with standard software packages.

Mental Demands:
Manage work flow and projects for Millennium. Detailed work with budget development and monitoring, editing, proofreading, multiple concurrent tasks, customer contact, vendor contact, University relations contact, constant interruptions, repeated distractions, considerable change from day to day, must deal with sometime hostile individuals, continuous noise, frequent deadlines.

Physical Demands:
Sitting, sometimes for long periods; lifting up to 10 pounds; keyboarding; moving from room to room for meetings; communicating with colleagues orally and in writing; travel, attendance.
