The lecture is the first public event of the Lake Family Institute, which honors the legacy of Thomas and Marjorie Lake and ensures that their values and commitment to faith and philanthropy will be passed on to future generations.
Through such events and activities, the Institute will engage the community in thoughtful discussions of the relationship between philanthropy and religion in diverse religious traditions. The Institute, which resides at the Center on Philanthropy, was made possible by Mr. and Mrs. Lake's daughter, Karen Lake Buttrey, and her husband, Donald.
The Center on Philanthropy is a leading academic center dedicated to increasing the understanding of philanthropy, fundraising and management of nonprofit organizations through teaching, research and public affairs.
